oh ello there!

I decided to make a blog. How exciting! But I do get the feeling that a blog is just a manly way of saying "diary". We'll see how it pans out.

I think for most of this I'll just be relaying musical events that are going on at the moment. Since nobody I know is really interested in listening to me talk about how my drums are sounding today, I thought I'd just force the story into you. That's right, you - invisible pixies that make the internet work!

Right, onto business. Music! Well a brief introduction...

I'm first and foremost a drummist. Been playing 5 or 6 years now. I only started taking it seriously like 3 years ago though. I'm hoping to study jazz drumming and just get some tasty groove, yo. Gotta love it.
I bought a guitar a year ago. Annoyingly I'm left-handed (WITCH!) so I'm struggling to actually be able to improve cos my muscles are stupid...which is irritating since my mind knows what I'm doing, but my hands don't! Bah.
While I improve on guitar very slowly, I'm hoping to write my own music too. Which you can't really do with drums...unless it's Indonesian gamelan music LOL am I rite? You know what I'm talkin' bout ;)  *ahem*

So the bands...
My main bizatch is Necropolis. We play disgusting metal music that you probably don't like, but we don't play it very well so we're fun to watch.
We also play Metallica cover gigs since we get paid for it and it's stupidly fun.
What else...the legendary Mark Sloan & The Hot Legs Society. We play...god knows what. Rod Stewart? Rush? Red Hot Chili Peppers? Whatever we want I guess. Mark Sloan is my HERO.
I'm also drumming for my friend Chris Gould's band This Divide. They're a real change of pace...lots of relaxed vibes from that music. Good stuff.
I'm probably in another band but I can't remember at the moment. I think I'm starting a band with a good 3 other people too haha. Busy days.
Just like keeping busy with it all. Otherwise I'd start using my head for thinking, and that's a dangerous thing.

I've lost my train of thought here...

So tomorrow I'm popping into the studio with the lovely Necropolis to record a song. Hopefully that will come out well. It were written by Matthew Ward - bassist, singer, award-winning arsehole - and myself (WHAT? That's insane!) so I'm quite fond of it. Bias, I guess.

Yeah I've decided this'll be mostly music, or random nights where I'm wasted and drunk-me wants to ruin sober-me's life.

Looking forward to that. Cheers.
